One of the greatest attractions of the Szent Gróth Thermal Bath and Lido is its beautiful setting. Located in the northern part of Zalaszentgrót, close to the valley of the Zala River, the bath is surrounded by forests and the gentle hills of the Zala countryside.

Here, birdsong, spacious green areas and the tranquillity of the landscape all become part of the bathing experience. In early spring, you may even be lucky enough to spot deer appearing at the edge of the nearby forest.

Indoor pools – enjoy the water even on cooler days

Thanks to its indoor bathing area, Szent Gróth is worth visiting throughout more than just the hot summer months.

The 25-metre, four-lane swimming pool is ideal for keen swimmers, while the teaching pool provides a suitable space for beginners and groups of children learning to swim.

If relaxation is more your style, choose the pleasantly warm seated thermal pool at around 35°C, where you can simply unwind and enjoy the thermal water. A children’s paddling pool is located nearby, making this part of the bath convenient for families with younger children as well.

Summer means outdoor bathing!

The outdoor area has all the atmosphere of a traditional summer lido – but in a much greener, more natural setting.

Massage benches, bubbling jets and water features add variety to the adventure pool, while the waterslide is naturally a favourite with children and playful adults alike.

One of the distinctive features of the large pool is a sunbathing island in the middle, accessible both from the water and by a small wooden bridge.

If you prefer peace and quiet, look for the seated pool in a more secluded part of the riverside woodland. Here, relaxation really does take centre stage.

There is also a separate paddling pool for the youngest visitors.

Thermal water from beneath Zalaszentgrót

The thermal water beneath Zalaszentgrót was discovered in the late 1990s. The area is also known for its high-quality mineral water resources: the NaturAqua mineral water bottling plant is located in Zalaszentgrót.

The water hidden deep beneath the ground therefore plays an important role in the life of the town in more ways than one.

Sauna and wellness

If you would like to add a little extra relaxation to your bathing experience, the wellness area offers a Finnish sauna and steam bath. Massages may also be available depending on the current range of services.

More than just swimming

More active visitors do not have to spend the entire day in the pools. The grounds also offer opportunities for sport, including courts and areas designed for ball games.

For visitors arriving by bicycle, the cyclist service point at the lido is particularly convenient. This makes it easy to combine a cycling tour through the Zala Valley with a few relaxing hours at the thermal bath.

And when you get hungry, the lido’s snack bars serve a selection of simple, traditional summer favourites and Hungarian-style dishes.

Bathing surrounded by greenery

One of the greatest advantages of Szent Gróth Thermal Bath is that it is not surrounded by a densely built-up urban environment. Its landscaped grounds, rich in trees and greenery, seem to blend naturally into the surrounding countryside.

The bath also pays attention to environmentally conscious solutions, including bird-friendly initiatives and energy-saving measures designed to help protect its special natural setting.

Getting there

The thermal bath is located in the Tüskeszentpéter area of Zalaszentgrót. Free parking is available nearby, making it easy to reach by car.

Bon Villa tip: You don’t necessarily need to plan a full day at the thermal bath. After a morning hike or bike ride through the Zala Valley, a few hours in the thermal water can be the perfect way to unwind. In summer, families may want to spend a full day enjoying the outdoor pools, while in cooler weather the indoor pools and warm seated thermal pool make it an inviting option.

Thermal water, bathing and the natural beauty of Zala – all in Zalaszentgrót, close to Bon Villa.
